Support new soccer fields in Houston!
Parents from the Albion Hurricanes soccer club have been working to obtain a public/private partnership with the City of Houston for the use of Moffitt Park, located at Hammerly and Beltway 8. The facility has 40 acres, the bulk of which is occupied by a frisbee golf course. The club developed a plan for four new soccer fields plus other improvements. Despite early strong interest by the Parks Department, objections from the Frisbee Golf Association and a few local residents led the Parks Department to reconsider.

The Albion Hurricanes club is going before City Council this Tuesday, April 27 at 2 pm. It is critical that City Council understand the groundswell of support behind this project, as opposed to the small number of objectors. If you can show up to support the cause, please do. The meeting will be held at 901 Bagby (the tall building with the clock up top) on the 2nd floor. If you can't attend, please send an email stating your support for the soccer fields at Moffitt Park to District A councilmember Toni Lawrence (districta@cityofhouston.net) and District C councilmember Mark Goldberg (districtc@cityofhouston.net). Or contact Sissy Lappin at albionparents@yahoo.com.
