MLS Superdraft this Friday

Project 40 signees eligible for the draft are from south
Texas: Josh Gardner from Houston and Clint Dempsey from
Nacogdoches. Project-40 players receive an educational
stipend in addition to their salary and a developmental
spot on the roster of their MLS club.
US men v Denmark this weekend
This Sunday the US men's team faces Denmark in
an international friendly at the Home Depot Center. Game
will air live on ESPN at 2:30 pm CT.
Open tryouts for Houston's WPSL team
The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is a
national adult amateur league, created to develop and
promote women's soccer at the highest amateur level in
North America (http://www.wpsl.info). Soccer World Center
proudly presents the Houston Stars WPSL soccer team.
Please join us as we grow and support the development of
womens soccer. Open tryouts for the 2004 Houston
Stars will run through early May. First tryout session is

Coed skills clinic hosted by HWSA for all
players 16 and older on Sunday, January 25 at Wilson
Elementary, 9-10:30 am. A goalkeeper coach will

High school soccer at Weekley YMCA
Weeknights at the Weekley Y near Bellaire/West
U, the program runs 8:30-10 pm, and is open to those in
high school, aged 14-18. Play games 8:30-9:30, then head
indoors for a snack and hang out while you eat. There's
also a chance to be assistant coach for one of the
Weekley Ys youth teams. Cost is $65 for members;
otherwise $100. Financial aid available. Registration

GK coaching course in Austin
STYSA is hosting a Goalkeeping Level I Diploma
Course in Austin on Sunday, February 29. The program
is designed to give coaches at all levels of the game an
opportunity to receive certification in coaching
goalkeepers. The courses include both lecture (theory)
and field (practical) sessions. The course will be held
at St. Stephens School, 12-6 pm. More info at
