Sunday
Two thrilling overtime victories last weekend
produced this year's contenders for the MLS Cup: the San
Jose Earthquakes (Landon Donovan, Jeff Agoos and
Houston's own Arturo Alvarez) and the Chicago Fire (Chris
Armas, DaMarcus Beasley, Zach Thornton). The battle for
the MLS championship will be Sunday on ABC at 2:30 pm CT.

Texas teams in NCAA tourneys
The Aggie women defeated SMU in PKs Friday, and
then Duke 2-1 Sunday to make it to the NCAA Sweet 16 for
the fifth year in a row. They face #5 Penn State this
Saturday in Pennsylvania at 11 am CT. Live audio will be

#15 SMU will take on #6 Santa Clara Friday in California

Trinity will host UC Santa Cruz in the division III
quarterfinals Sunday at 1 pm in San Antonio at Blossome

Soccer for real soccer moms
Over 30? HWSA will offer a short over 30 women's
season in January/early February, with games beginning
January 10. Teams will be forming in December. Contact
Nancy Gold at nancygold@sbcglobal.net. Cost is $25 per person, not including
ref fees. The December skills clinic (see above) will be
free for those 30+.
Over 40? Last year HWSA sent an over 40 women's team to
Hawaii for Veterans Cup, the national championship
tournament for over 40, over 50 & over 50. The
tourney will be in Hawaii again in June 2004. If you want
to join the Houston over 40 team, contact Susan

Over 55? There may be an over 55 women's team for Hawaii

Holiday high school goalkeeper camp

4-6:30 pm (December 19 & 20), 9-11 am (December 21st)

Sessions will be conducted by former professional keeper
and national goalkeeper clinician Steve Branz. This is a
great opportunity for keepers of all levels to sharpen
their skills. The camp will focus on dealing with
crosses, hand and foot distribution, proper diving
techniques, shot handling, and back passes. Camp size is
