Copa Libertadores qualifying at Reliant
Reliant Stadium hosts eight great teams from Mexico's first division in January when Copa Libertadores qualifying comes to Houston:

Friday, January 9

9:30 pm Chivas v Toluca

Sunday, January 11
1 pm Atlante v Atlas
3:30 pm Club America v Tigres

January clinic/over 30 women's season
HWSA offers a women's skills clinic on Sunday, January 4 at Wilson Elementary, 9 am. The clinic will feature Krista Davey of the WUSA's New York Power. Cost is $5 per person, FREE for women 30+. RSVP to the <mailto:keeper@rice.edu>keeper. Map link at

Tryouts for Chivas USA this weekend
The search for players for Chivas USA comes to Houston as part of the Guadalajara club's "Sangre Nueva 2004" (New Blood 2004) program. Stand-out players will be considered for Chivas Guadalajara in Mexico or for Chivas USA, the club set to join the MLS in 2005.

Tryouts will be December 20-21 at Bear Creek Park. Scouts in attendance will be Arturo Chaires, Hugo Diaz de la Paz, Gabriel Lopez Zapiain, Salvador Gomero and Jorge DomĖnguez. The top ten players in each age category will receive an invitation to participate in tryouts in Guadalajara, Mexico. Standouts in each category will also be invited to a future tryout, with the goal of making the final selection of players available for the Chivas Youth team in Mexico and in the United States. 10 - 12 years (born 1992-94)

Soccer fans have the opportunity to vote once a day through December 31 for US Soccer’s Chevrolet Male and Female Athletes of the Year awards at
