Mia &
Briana coming to the Space City...
Tickets for the first-ever WUSA game in Houston
(Washington Freedom vs. Atlanta Beat) officially go on
sale Monday, September 16. Pre-order your tickets now at http://www.hwsa.org/wusabuy.htm. Pre-ordered tickets will be mailed in
early October.
Beginning Monday, all tickets purchased online will be
downloadable (no more mail orders). Tickets will also be
available at the Rice ticket office (walk up only, no
phone orders). See http://www.riceowls.com/info/tickets/ for hours and http://dacnet.rice.edu/maps/space/index.cfm for directions. Additional ticket
locations will be announced shortly.
Keep in mind that the Rice venue is fairly cozy (5000
capacity), so there's a good chance the game will sell
out. Buy your tickets now to ensure a seat!
Also on sale will be soccer clinic packages for women:
$35 gets you a game ticket, a Tshirt and a 1-hour clinic
with licensed soccer coaches and a couple of WUSA
players. There will be two clinics on game day: one for
ages 8-14, the other for ages 15-50 (and older). Clinic
packages will only be available online. Limit 100 per
clinic.
Soccer in the Chronicle
There's a real soccer column now in the
Chronicle every Sunday -- covering everything from
international soccer to local tidbits. Let the Chronicle
know what you think, good or bad, by emailing sptletters@chron.com. My personal beef with the Chronicle --
the column gets buried in Sports 2, and is rarely posted
online.
Coming up on TV
The WUSA's inaugural All-Star Game is next Saturday, Sept
21 @ 3 pm CT
on PAX. Click here to find your local PAX TV channel: http://www.wusa.com/pax/.
The South All-Star starting lineup features Mia Hamm, Joy
Fawcett, Julie Foudy, Homare Sawa, Abby Wambach &
Shannon MacMillan; the North All-Star starting lineup
features Brandi Chastain, Kristine Lilly, Sissi, Katia
& Tiffeny Milbrett.
The last regular season MLS game on espn2 features Dallas
at D.C. United on Thursday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
If D.C. wins their last two games (they take on the
MetroStars Saturday), they'll make the Eastern Conference
playoffs. Dallas has already secured a berth in the
Western Conference.
